How We Accept Your Planned Gift

Minnesota PBS has created a separate organization, the TPT Foundation, to hold long-term funds that support the mission of Minnesota PBS. Its purpose is to receive, hold, and invest contributions from donors who provide estate gifts to us. There are three important advantages to a separate foundation:

  1. Investment Management – Donors have the assurance that their generous gifts are professionally managed as long-term investments.
  2. Stewardship – The Foundation Board of Directors provide governance and oversight of Minnesota PBS’s long-term funds.
  3. Accountability – As a separate organization, the TPT Foundation files its own IRS return, called a 990, which is a publicly available document. Transfers of funds to Minnesota PBS – whether the typical 5% annual endowment distribution or additional investments to support innovation and new programming – have oversight by the TPT Foundation Board of Directors.
